A mobile phone also called cellular phone, cellphone, handphone, cell phone, hand phone or pocket phone, sometimes shortened to simply mobile, cell, hand set or just phone. A mobile phone is a mobile phone that allows the user to make and receive calls through a radio frequency link while moving within a telephone service area. Radio frequency links connect to the switching systems of mobile operators that provide access to the Public Switched Telephone Network.

Cell phones in North America are called cell phones or cell phones. For feature mobile of 2016 the top-selling brands were Saamsung, Nookia and Alcaatel.

Mobile phones are measured an important human creation as it has been one of the most extensively used and vended pieces of consumer knowledge. The growth in acceptance has been quick in some places for example in the United Kingdom the total number of mobile phones overtook the number of houses in 1999AC.

Today, mobile phones are ubiquitous around the world with over 90% of the population in nearly half the world owning at least one.

History

Portable mobile radiotelephone service was conceived in the early days of wireless technology.
